Stinky, Stinky, Stinky!

Before Mike and I drove out to Utah last week, we decided to be clever and turn off the power to our house in order to save some money on the utility bill. You see, when we spent two weeks in Germany last year, we were quite surprised to receive a utility bill that was double it’s normal cost, especially considering we were not at home ½ of that month’s time. Our city utilities office was not able to offer us any explanation back then, so we decided to make sure this didn’t happen again. We realized that we shouldn’t turn off the power to our entire house though. After careful consideration we made sure to leave the power on to our heater (lowered to 60 degrees) and hot water heater so that the pipes would not freeze or burst. However... we did not think about the refrigerator!

The moment I walked in to the kitchen last night, after our 20 hour drive, I was greeted by the most appalling grotesque smell. This is what happens when you leave a refrigerator full of food unpowered for two weeks: Frozen meat and vegetables defrost, rot and create a slimy, smelly sludge across the bottom of the freezer. All of the jarred condiments, sauces and little cooking extras grew various fuzzy molds. Surprisingly, the Coffee-mate coffee creamer both appeared and smelled absolutely fine, although I chose to throw it out anyway of course. I now wonder what kind of preservatives are in my beloved pumpkin spice creamer? I cleaned and disinfected the entire fridge right away, in case anyone was wondering.

Learn from our mistake; make sure to leave power on for your refrigerator too.

50 Year Old Glass?

Mom, I am hoping you can shed some light on this glass? Was it used at your wedding? Just curious. It WAS just used at Thanksgiving 2008.

Happy Thanksgiving

May you all have a very Happy and Tasty Thanksgiving.
Now go help with the preparations and don't forget to take plenty of pictures!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The Pilgrims are signing the "Mayflower Compact" which will give them the right to practice their religion.

Native Americans were invited to the first Thanksgiving. They taught the Pilgrims how to plant corn and fish.

Just reminding you all that you are descendants of the Pilgrims who left Plymouth, England in 1620 on the Mayflower to find religious freedom in America. We come through Priscilla Mullins who married John Alden. He visited her on an errand from the Captain Miles Standish who wanted to marry Priscilla. But Priscilla said to John, "Speak for yourself, John" meaning she loved John and wanted to marry him.

Through Priscilla comes Henry Wadsworth Longfellow who was America's poet in the 1700's. We are his descendant, as well! I am thankful for the Mayflower, for the great courage of the Pilgrims. (half of them died the first winter) for Priscilla Mullins who lost her parents and her brother to the terrible sickness. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The Wedding!!

Here's the couple. They were gorgeous. The M & D of the groom were happy. Parents of the Bride were lovely. Here is Hope with her brother. Other guests at the wedding was, Bart and his family. (I wonder where his family is . . mmm) Here is most of Tatia's family. Daniel is sitting on another couch playing with his Rubic's cube. Sophia and Jenna danced and had a great time. The refreshments were delightful - Cherry Tomatoes filled with cheese and guacamole, chips with salsa, deviled eggs, good punch w/sherbet and vanilla and chocolate wedding cake. All came from "Fiddler's Elbow". Here is Mark with his beloved Bethany; here is Bethany with her beloved Mike who is charming like Rhett Butler! Bumpa is sitting with Jessica. Now Jessica is with her sisters, Bethany and Morgan.

Musically Entertaining

While searching thru my blogs, I found this little gem:

It is 1 guy that sings 4 different parts to famous songs all about Star Wars

If you like you will enjoy this little Youtube clip.
(Click the words Star Wars, or Youtube clip and that will take you where you want to go. Notice, they are both blue.)

I do NOT know how to place those right here on this blog. Sorry. I don't know everything.

Also, if you are wondering what this crown has to do with anything,

I have tried to figure it out.

BCS BABY!

Two more games!

"Deliver The Payne"

As many of you know, Tanner has been playing his first year of tackle football. It drives his mother crazy, but his dad REALLY likes it. His team is in the playoffs - more football, hooray! - and he has worked very hard to make it to first string defense just last week. His position is corner (I don't really know what that is), but that is his favorite position and is doing very well. Here is his picture. He is 10 years old.

We're Having a BOY!

After 5 months of talking about a girl and how "she" is doing today, and deciding on a name, of course, the baby turns out to be a boy! We have never thought of baby as a boy, we have only been thinking she is a girl. We have no names at all! Who has any good suggestions?

Aside from the shock, our baby is healthy and on target. HE is 11oz today.

A Little Help From A Friend....

Ok, as you can see, I changed the layout of the blog. I really like it. I guess on some things, I like change.

A few problems.....I accidentally deleted the area that says "Contributors", then it lists everyone's name!! I have tried to fix it, but I can't figure it out. HELP! I want everyone's name there, please help to get them back!

Also, why is my daily counter vertical now instead of horizontal?? I have replaced the html 3 times, still it is vertical; yet the global counter is horizontal. That all bugs me!

HAPPY BOOTHDAY!

HAPPY BOOTHDAY! to the Birthday boys. I found a picture from our Hawaiin trip. They both look sooo good. Now Dad is 71 and Bart is 50. They still look wonderful. Today, Bart is moving his family into a 5 bedroom house in Payson. Dad went out to help Tanner rake leaves and got exhausted. Here is a picture of Adam when he was 15. I hope he is having a good day today. I love them all and may there be many more birthdays to come!

Here they are, just before they started out for Trick or Treating. That's Daniel, Tanner, Haley friend, Jenna, in a "50's" outfit and Sophia going as a little fairy!
Thanks to Julie for the funny, clever Birthday notice. I couldn't find a picture of all three. But I wish them all a wonderful birthday.

What do you get when you cross a GHOST with a BIRTHDAY CAKE?
