This Post Is For Nana

Mom, you can always find what you need on THIS blog - the Payne blog.

Over on the right hand side you should see HIT COUNTER.

Ok, now go down and you will see BLOG ARCHIVE. That is VERY long. Go down past that and you will see CONTRIBUTORS, everyone's name that can post on the blog.

Then down some more, still on the right hand side, you will see LINKS.
Under Links you will see CHECK-IN.
Hover over Check-In and click on that word and you will be automatically taken to our Cole blog. Try clicking some of the other "links" like Books We've Read.

If you want to go back to the Payne blog after visiting the Cole's, just use the BACK ARROW button at the top left of your screen. The VERY top.

Festival of Colors (Holi)

Anybody ever heard of the Festival of Colors? It's some Krishna/Hindu type tradition. Lots of fun. If you want more pictures, they're on our Cole blog.

Big Wheels

Do you remember what a big wheel is? They were really popular in the 90's, me and Christopher must have gone through 8 of them. Some of us here have gotten the idea of doing a big wheel race down the paved trail from Bridal Veil falls, but we can't find an actual big wheel. Can anyone help us locate some?

"Out, Darn'd Spot - Out I Say!"

The SPOT for me is my gallbladder.
I have gall stones, they will not be still, so the whole gallbladder must come out. The gallbladder will never heal itself, it will never get better, it will only get worse.
I am having surgery on April 21st. It will be done lapriscopically and as an outpatient - get 'em in, get 'em out!
Just thought I would let you all know.
Come on now, no one else has had any gallbladder pain??

We're getting ready to have our Easter dinner.

Looking cool! Just for their mother.

Tatia Poses

Steven was taking pictures. Tatia posed. Tatia then was sorry she posed, but Steven was too quick. Tatia insisted the picture get deleted. So naturally it got posted to the blog.
Love you Tatia.

Be Song

Remember I told you I made up a song about President Hinckley's 6 Bees?

I got a letter back!

It was very nice, Diane Bastian from the General Music Committee said that they would "keep my song in a file for consideration when a new Children's Songbook is created or when the Friend is considering doing something with President Hinckley's Be's."

I thought it was very nice, considering I was expecting NO word whatsoever.

Communication

Family,

It is nearly impossible for me to get to my email these days, but I do have access to the blog. So here is what is going on:

Mark's Dad had a heart attack and died last Tuesday morning (March 18). We got the call from Mark's brother, Dale, Tuesday night. Mark hasn't spoken to his Dad in years and it's been longer than that since he's seen him.

We were able to work through some of the grieving process on Thursday which precipitated postponing the annual dinner (as some of you already know).

The funeral was this morning, Friday. We weren't able to attend. Mark is basically alright at this point, but stressed, as you can imagine. We appreciate your prayers.

I am trying to reach Sherma/Mama/Nana and work out dinner arrangements, but that woman is hard to pin down. I'll let you know.

Bragging...

OK. Here goes...

Haley's cheerleading squad just competed at the USA Spirit National Competition and took 2nd place. They had never before even made the finals! She has now joined the brand new girls' golf team at Hillcrest.

Allysa decided to run track this spring. She has competed in 2 track meets with the following results:

100M hurdles (1st place, 2nd heat)

300M hurdles (1st place, 1st place) She left them all in her dust. I will try to post the video I took.

100x4 relay (2nd place) (she's only done this race once)

400x4 relay (1st place, 1st place)

Her coaches have told her that if she improves her 300 hurdle time by 2 seconds, she is a shoo-in for a scholarship!

As for me, I have just had my brand-new washer and dryer installed! Yippee!
OK. After a year of shooting videos I am now loading them onto my computer. It's going to take awhile. Then I will share. Bye

Goriest Movie

A conversation that has been held many times is whether or not Apocalypto is the most gory movie in existence. I contend that it is, even though a couple outspoken aunts passionately defend its "moral value." It was brought up that 300 is more gory. Well, it might be, but I decided to check it out with the professionals. I went to kids-in-mind.com and checked, and both of them got a 9 out of 10 for violence/gore. I then proceeded to see which list of the violence and gore was longer, and here are the results:

300: 1130 words

Apocalypto: 1435 words

That is all.

Quiz Question

What was Jean Val Jean's prison number?

Yes, it is odd, but this is what came to me (the song) as I was preparing Tacos for dinner.

Joke of the day... possibly the month

Redneck Logic

Two Tennessee Rednecks, Bubba and Jim Bob, are sitting at their favorite bar, drinking beer. Bubba turns to Jim Bob and says, 'You know, I'm tired of going through life without an education. Tomorrow I think I'll go to the Community College, and sign up for some classes.' Jim Bob thinks it's a good idea, and the two leave.

The next day, Bubba goes down to the college and meets the Dean of Admissions, who signs him up for the four basic classes: Math, English, History, and Logic.
'Logic?' Bubba says. 'What's that?'
The dean says, 'I'll show you. Do you own a weedeater?' 'Yeah.'
'Then logically speaking, because you own a weedeater, I think that you would have a yard.' 'That's true, I do have a yard.'
'I'm not done,' the dean says. 'Because you have a yard, I think logically that you would have a house.' 'Yes, I do have a house.'
'And because you have a house, I think that you might logically have a family.' 'I have a family.'
'I'm not done yet. Because you have a family, then logically you must have a wife.' 'Yes, I do have a wife.'
'And because you have a wife, then logic tells me you must be a heterosexual.' 'I am a heterosexual. That's amazing, you were able to find out all of that because I have a weedeater.'
Excited to take the class now, Bubba shakes the Dean's hand and leaves to go meet Jim Bob at the bar.

He tells Jim Bob about his classes, how he is signed up for Math, English, History, and Logic. 'Logic?' Jim Bob says, 'What's that?'
Bubba says, 'I'll show you. Do you have a weedeater?' 'No.'
'Then you're a queer.'

Lost - WHAT??

If you have NOT seen Thursday's Lost episode....
DO NOT READ ANY FARTHER!!

What is the deal with JIN???

Very weird??

I would like to hear your theories!!

Here is mine......
I think on the way home, Jin lost his memory (like some of the other people did...Desmond). When Jin got to Korea, he did not know about Sun, married someone else. Sun obviously thinks Jin is dead! Maybe Sun and Jin both came home separately.

I like Be's NOW

I made up some new lyrics to a song.....
I was looking for a song about President Hinckley's Be's. I couldn't find one, I needed to teach that song at our Ward Conferences....so I made one up. I used the tune of Latter-Day Prophets (pg 134) from the primary songbook. I have taught the song several times, it works great. Sue Cornwall told me I should submit it to the Friend. So, I did. It is in my mailbox now, waiting for the postman. I'll let you know if I ever hear anything. If you have interest, here are the words:
President Hinckley has words for you
He loves be’s and you can too.
I can tell you the be’s he loves
Then you can know them and love them too.

Be grateful, be smart, be clean and be true
Humble and prayerful, that’s all you do.

Say it one more time just so you’ll remember all his be’s.

Be grateful, be smart, be clean and be true
Humble and prayerful, that’s all you do.

President Hinckley loves the be’s.
We can know them and love them too.

Wedding News

We just got a wedding invitation to DONNA MILLER'S nuptials.
She is marrying Jim E. Edwards. I do not know him. I believe he lives in another state.
They are getting married April 12th.

Time Saving Option

If you need to save a bit of time in the morning, just dress the NIGHT BEFORE in what you will wear the next day. Sleep in it and save the dressing time for sleeping. It works well for several members of the Cole family....their names shall remain private unless they would like to OUT themselves.
Just trying to share and help.

Dumbledore says....

I am not a Harry Potter reader, but I just saw this quote and LOVED it!

"It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

I truly believe life IS all about our choices, so choose wisely!
