Just a Question...

Do you in Utah feel, or have you heard that being called Ma'am is kind of rude because it means the "Ma'am" is bossy?

Chase has a friend whose mother feels that way. Some of my children will call me Ma'am every now and then, I think it funny.

P.S. what kind of word is Ma'am?

Palindrome!

That certain palindrome is used all the time in the south where parents train their children to say 'Ma'am' to every older woman. I don't like it because it seems to be used very disingenuously.

A palindrome!! Oh my goodness, you have a lot time on your hands! I was going to say that it's a contraction of the word Madam, used as a term of respect.

I don't mind being called Ma'am. And if I am speaking to people from the south, I can always tell. Because they always say, Yes Ma'am. Sometimes it's yessem.
