Hey family,
School is out! Yeah! The month of May was a constant whirlwind of activities...karate, scouts, school carnivals, Jenna performing at numerous places (she's in a singing/dancing group...think Marilyn Christensen) Jenna's soccer, Sophie's soccer, Allysa's soccer, Haley finishing up the High School golf season, seminary graduation and high school graduation. We've had dress rehearsals and field trips, soccer state cup tournament, BYU Invitational Track meet, regional track meet, the state track meet, Tim's graduation, banquets and senior dinner dances, Sophie has turned 8 years old and will be baptised this Thursday! I can almost breath again.
This past weekend Nana, Bumpa, Haley and I drove 10 hours to Albuequerque (it turned out to be 11 1/2 hours since we missed a turn off and had to back track) to watch Allysa run in the Great Southwestern Track and Field Classic! 7 states put together an all-star team for track and field and compete against each other. So, friday morning at 5:15 am, Don drove Lyssy to Orem to be picked up by a chartered bus. She didn't know anyone at all, coaches or athletes, but of course by the time they reached Albuequerque she had all kinds of friends. She was unexpectedly put on the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams as well. In her 300 M hurdles race she was seeded 14th. She finished in 7th place, so she improved her seed by 50%. Truthfully, she didn't run her best race so next year she'll clean 'em up! Most of these athletes are Seniors, so it was quite an honor for Lyssy to be invited (she's a sophmore). It was a great experience. It was a little intimidating to be surrounded by athletes who are even darker in skin color than she is (black) and who are so strong and so fast, but she held her own! We are very proud of her! Oh, the Salt Lake Tribune has written an article about her. I will let you know when it comes out!
By the way, you can thank Dawney for this long post... she asked me to write it down!

Yes, I was part of that lovely trip but to see Allysa compete was worth it. She is a very sweet natured child - (probably takes after me!!) Thanks for the picture.
Great picture!
Great write-up!
