Screws OUT!

Remember those screws?
Well, I do.
They come out tomorrow, Tues, Sept. 30th at 1:00pm
Think about me.
Just those big, long screws come out.
I am sure the doctor will use a drill.

Wart Removal!

I just read this on another blog; knew it would help someone out there, so here is information on a crazy witch-y folk remedy for removing a wart.

Put a little bit of cotton soaked with apple cider vinegar on the wart and cover it with a band-aid overnight for a week or so, it will slowly turn black and then go away. I heard it hurt at little at first, but she says it doesn't at all.

If you have a wart - try it.

I'll give a dollar to the first person who REALLY tries it....for one week.

although they lost, I wish I could have seen it

Julie,

Did you watch that Dodgers game last night? Man, it looks like it was probably a great one, even if the Dodgers did lose. I still feel like they'll win the division and get to the playoffs... at least I hope they do.

On another note, to all of you BYU fans, you may have forgotten about your rivals to the north but we're ranked 17 now and also undefeated (run-on sentence). You guys had better watch out for that last game of the season, BYU is away this year. Mawahaha!

Son of Rambow

Out of desperation at Blockbuster, I was forced to get the DVD Son of Rambow. I thought it might be passable and I wanted a video, so I got it.
I really enjoyed it! I thought it would all be documentary like, but it was a real movie, a real story.
It is about 2 lost boys - they come from two different, difficult family situations. The are opposites, but find themselves together. They decide to make a movie.
I encourage you all to watch it. It is quirky, funny, touching, sweet and has great imagination and fabulous editing.
Come on Tim, watch it!

My First Week

I'm glad I have a job, but it's been very demanding. We moved all our stuff into the apartment on Thursday night, I got a job on Friday morning, and starting teaching on Monday. So, I haven't been able to unpack one box. I'm still pulling clothes out of my suitcase. At the end of the day, I want to come home and unpack, but I am so tired I just go to sleep. Tanner is still staying at Billy's since his room is filled with boxes.

Gil and I went to Tanner's first football game on Saturday. They run through banners and have cheerleaders. Tanner was upset because they lost. Only by two. I've backed off of football and let Billy do it - too hard for me to watch.

I have 20 students in my class, most of them Armenian. I've already had two conferences this week before school (parent request). Back to School night is next week. All I can say is, I better have my ducks in a room for this group. Teaching 2nd grade in Utah and teaching 2nd grade in California is very different. Much more demanding here.

I'm now grading spelling tests and then I'm going to bed. Gil makes sure I have a lunch in the morning for school. He cuts me strawberries and puts them in a tupperware. He's been wonderful.

It's surgery for Allysa

It looks like she has torn her ACL.

A torn ACL can't be sewn back together. The ligament is reconstructed by taking a piece of tendon from another part of your leg and connecting it to the thighbone and shinbone.

Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday morning. I hope her homecoming date can find someone else to take. Homecoming is this Saturday. According to the doctor, we should plan on 7 months for a FULL recovery. 5 months is possible. Track season starts in 5 months.

HELP!!

I have lost my entire itunes library. I have looked everywhere and opened every conceivable file. It is nowhere! I handpicked 926 songs over the past 3 years. AARGH. Does anyone have any ideas?

Back Up For Sale!

1030 Don Alvarado is back up for sale, this time for
$998,000. Last spring they were trying for $1,300,000.

The suspended seating in the kitchen is gone, but the one outside is still there! No more red carpet in the master bedroom. And the TV's! They are amazingly huge.

You can see 15 pictures of the inside HERE!

I Don't Want to Lose This One!

This is Britt! She was adorable! Look at Christopher's face - he is happy. They came to watch a movie downstairs. Christopher made them each a shake. I loved her because she could talk and she could keep up with me and they look so good together. I hope I'm not disappointed! I love them both.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Have any of you seen this movie??
It is really a different movie, very artsy. I had heard mention of this movie a few times, so I figured I would give it a try. With Christopher and Steven gone, I was free to watch something a little off center.
It surprised me in how much I liked it.
It is a true story. It is about a big time editor of a French Magazine, Elle. He has 3 children, an ex-wife and a current girlfriend. At 43, (in 1995) he has a massive stroke and he gets a syndrome called locked-in. The only thing he can move is his left eye.
The movie opens and we, the audience, only can few through his left eye, from his perspective. Very interesting! Just think about acting to the camera like all the people had to do. They were great.
One of my most favorite lines in the movie: "I realized that I had 2 things that were not paralyzed besides my eye; my imagination and my memory". He CHOSE to move forward, find some positive in such a difficult situation. Amazing.
He has a speech therapist who helps him learn to communicate by blinking his eye at the correct letter of the word he wants to spell. In this manner he wrote his book, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. He died 10 days after the book was published, in 1997.

A Friend Sent Me This Joke Today

A man and his wife walked into a dentist's office. The man said to the dentist, "Doc, I'm in one heck of a hurry. I have two buddies sitting out in my car waiting for us to go play golf, so forget about the anesthetic and just pull the tooth and be done with it. We have a 10:00 AM tee time at the best golf course in town and it's 9:30 already. I don't have time to wait for the anesthetic to work!" The dentist thought to himself, My goodness, this is surely a very brave man asking to have his tooth pulled without using anything to kill the pain. So the dentist asked him, "Which tooth is it sir?" The man turned to his wife and said, "Open your mouth, Honey, and show him your tooth."

Have We Talked About This?

I just can't remember.

I got this DVD player, ClearPlay for my birthday. It is really fabulous! You CAN watch any movie and have all the objectionable parts deleted. You choose how much you want deleted, little, medium, heavy. There are about 14 categories of monitoring. You can watch movies with NO swearing! No blasphemy! No nudity. It takes nothing away from the movie. I really like it.

You do have to get your info from the computer, and that can make you crazy...it did me! I got so frustrated last night, I just watched my movie without the clearplay monitoring. I don't think I will do that again. I did not enjoy the movie as much. I didn't think it would be a big deal. But it all made me very thankful for my clearplay. I think this is a GREAT product.

On the down side, you do have to have a subscription, every month, $14.99. If you never watch a new movie, only old, you won't need the subscription; but who does that? We are still using our free service that we got when we purchased the product.

Just sharing.

As some of you noticed the Cole blog currently has music on it and I am wondering if anyone wants music on this blog and what music we will put on just about any songs you ask for,

Just Comment Your Feelings On It

Haley's Dorm

Haley brought pictures of her dorm. They will be a great memory as these rooms will never look like this again! But for now, they are very pretty and bright. I think Marie is her roommate. And I know she has two other roommates. Good luck, beloved child. Study hard and keep your grades up. We always reap what we sow. What? Am I now waxing parables?

22 Came to Dinner!

And last comes Steven, who is full of light. He is always so happy and willing to help in whatever way. He looked for my fur coat to wear outside. But he could not find it. I guess I hung it up downstairs. Although it was cold enough for a fur coat. They were all good sports to eat outside as that was the best place to seat 22. I do so love to see my grand kids. They are wonderful and are so busy filling their lives with all the things that they need to do right now. I am very proud that most are in college and are improving their lives. They are all doing the right thing. And Bumpa and I did the right thing, as well. . luring them to dinner with delicious steaks!!

Here is Bart and Bart. I love them so. Diana didn't want her picture taken.

Lyssie, Marie, Haley, Katie . . where is Jessica. She came, as well. She must be downstairs. She is wonderful and I love her very much.

Haley also brought her cousin, Luke Hansen, from Sacramento. He goes to BYU and is 22. All the college kids came with Christopher. Thanks, Christopher. I love Christopher for always being thoughtful.

Haley had her nails done very fancy!!

Haley brought her roommate, Marie, who is a neice to Marsden.

Here is Bumpa with Haley . . he adores her.

Gil came alone. He is waring Sherma's sweat shirt because it was very cold outside. We had had lots of hail in the morning that covered the ground and made it white! Gil has worked soo hard this last week. He manicured his lawn and I do mean manicure! Not one blade of grass is higher than the next one! Amazing. Everything looked beautiful at their now rental.

Don came. He brought vegetables from his fabulous garden!

Christopher is smiling now, with Tatia. She told him he was her favorite nephew! whew, that's dangerous!

Christopher was there. He looked like he had spent the weekend riding his "Shadow".

Haley came, she and Allysa miss each other.

We were happy to see the other "Paynes." Matthew loved the steak and Adam loved the potatoes! Daniel was a little hyper.

Katie gets prettier and taller each time we see her. Jenna can always be had for a good time. Sophie is always delightful. She calls Gil, Schnil because he calls her Snofi!

You want comments...

Let's see...
Monday 6:30 am - I wake up and shower so I can make an appearance at Daniel's school to remind them that I can substitute any time now.
7:00 - wake up D, J and S. Make lunches, breakfast, etc.
7:30 - leave early to drive Daniel to school so I can return in time to take J and S to their first day of school.
7:45 - almost to Daniel's school. phone rings. It is J. S has thrown up on the floor. I say "please just cover it with paper towels."
7:50 - drop D off, drive to McD's to get Sophie a sprite. I think it is just a nervous stomach.
8:05- call J. say I am going to be a little late. How is S? Can you two start walking to school and I will meet you on the way?
8:10 - drive between my house and the school looking for J & S. no sign of them. Wow. They got to school fast. I park. I quickly walk to where their classes are, carrying a sprite and oj in my hand. Hmmmm... no sign of either of them. Bell rings. Walk quickly back to car with drinks in hand and start the drive back home to check. Ahhh, there they are! J had very responsibly taken time to put Bear in his bed along with a day's (or two) worth of food and water.
8:20 - I get both girls to their new classes a few minutes late. S was fine. I run back to my car
8:30 - I am now getting on the freeway to drive to Orem so I can go to the UVU parent's orientation. I am exhausted. Are you?
10:00 - 2:00 - Orientation (I learned some good things. I am very happy with UVU). Help the girls find what books they need, take them to lunch, etc.
2:00 - race home to deposit check before bank closes.
3:00 - J & S come home. Talk about first day. Leave to pick up Daniel.
3:45 - drop D off at Karate.
5:00 - pick D up. Go to Wendy's for dinner. Order. drive to window to pay. Uh-oh. No purse in the car. No dinner. Time for Sophie's first soccer game
6:00 - Sophie plays great soccer.
7:00 - Don takes D, J and S for ice cream. I go grocery shopping.
8:00 - I have not seen Allysa since breakfast. She calls and asks to spend the night at a friend's house because she has to be at school at 6:30 the next morning to make some changes to her schedule. I do not want to drive anywhere at 6:30 the next morning. I say OK.
9:00 - put groceries away.
9:30 - put children to bed. Watch TV.

That was only one day. During the week I continued to chauffer D, J & S to school, karate, soccer, etc., On Wednesday I slipped down the stairs and wrenched my ankle so I had to cancel a subbing job for the PE teacher at Channing Hall. On Thursday I got a call saying Allysa had twisted her knee during the first play of her soccer game and was carried off the field. I had visions of scholarships going down the tubes. (She has already had 3 offers). She is OK. I was supposed to handle the snack shack at Hillcrest high school that day, but I had to go to D's Back to School night that night. Friday I subbed for a 5th grade teacher. Bought fruit for Allysa's HS soccer team who were playing a pre-game at the Real soccer stadium. By the time Don and I got downtown we were both very ornery. Lyssy didn't even get to play and we paid for 5 tickets.

Oh. Then on Sunday I got a new calling.

I am the new choir director.

Heaven help me.
