It's surgery for Allysa

It looks like she has torn her ACL.

A torn ACL can't be sewn back together. The ligament is reconstructed by taking a piece of tendon from another part of your leg and connecting it to the thighbone and shinbone.

Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday morning. I hope her homecoming date can find someone else to take. Homecoming is this Saturday. According to the doctor, we should plan on 7 months for a FULL recovery. 5 months is possible. Track season starts in 5 months.

That sounds LONG and HARD! I hope things go as well as they can. Take the pain pills and follow the rules. Good Luck!

When did she tear her ACL?

She tore it about 3 weeks ago. She followed a regimen of rest, ice and ibuprofen, but even wearing a brace it would go out at odd times so we took her to an orthopedic specialist today. I've learned a lot about ACL's today. They can seem innocuous and can be tricky to identify.
